Even a psychic for pets, dogs and pigs

Call Carol Becker animal communicator, the reader's dog or even the candidate for pets. She is more concerned by what the animals say that town names present, which are not always as courtesy.

Fort Bragg planned "pets reads" women's $5 Todd stand point between a full day of animals celebrations Saturday at an event sponsored by the society of the Mendocino coast.

More than 50 dogs, as well as some horses, pigs, sheep, rabbits, ducks, geese and chickens participated in the second annual celebration of the Animal. More than twice as many human beings accompany them. Demonstrations of good citizens of canine of Julie Apostolu and obedience training have class, dogs of therapy in the hospital and information about the new Mendocino dog park.

Crissy Tadlock, a graduate of the class of canine good citizen with his pit bull mix deaf eco uses sign language to facilitate the album Echo captures dexterity.

There was a booth for cutting dog nails toe and the merits of Hawthorne Eileen, which helps to provides a low-cost spay and neuter services.

"We are doing today highlight groups here on the coast that benefit animals", said Sharon Felkins, director of the human society animal summers Lane and thrift shop, the Ark, on the road 20 and Simpson Lane.

The Ark is losing parking during the construction of the roundabout in progress, but remains open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., said. Housing, which currently has 54 dogs in kennels 24, is open daily from noon to 5 p.m.

Society human recently purchased additional land and needs funds to expand.

"We are in dire need of more kennels, we are the only place on the coast, with the closure of the installation of County (to the side)," said Felkins.

Booths offered food, articles of savings store in lots of doggy.

Several people eyed Becker stand several times before taking the step with the pet psychic. After having done so, each one of them went from 10 to 15 minutes with Becker, engage in lively conversation, with quite a bit of with.

Korie Shokmalli, Monte Rio, brought his dog rescue newly approved Rowan, a mixture of Chihuahua, along with his old dog Bella. The first thing she noticed was safe and gentle energy of Becker with dogs and how the couple relaxed while Becker performed the reading.

"I liked reading;" "it was just in", said Shokmalli.

Becker helped Shokmalli straighten a situation between Rowan and a male cat in your home.

"A thing man, he said ' Shokmalli said."

Becker told Shokmalli that she had Rowan for just a week, but it was done two days.

"But I saw him first a week ago, so in reality she was right," said Shokmalli. "I wish I could have given more than $5 but that was all that means".

Becker has been doing animal communication for almost 20 years. It started when he lived in Southern California and a sick dog contacted her about what she was ill.

Then she took lessons of others and has been to reduce the communication gap between pets and owners since then.

She said that the feeling you get is like being in a waterfall, where the feelings of the flow about her pets.

Becker is obviously an acute observer of the breed and temperament, but also has a way of finding too fascinating attractions. He told this reporter how much care and training my extremely energetic mixture of Pastor Belgian rescued the dog, Reynard, needs that could easily be simple observation.

Also referred to problems that is getting out, where Reynard has received very bad to eat things that should not.

Apostolu said the good citizen training, carried out in a positive way, without no o threats, can be a type of healing of a family.

"Long time that we find that the problem is the dog is getting confused with who sends home." We can help straighten class, "he said."

Dogs learn to walk on a loose leash, to accept the separation of its owner, feel, stays down and long. The training is as correct not useful human behavior as the correction of the actions of animals.

Many humans and dogs were impressed with the animals of farm and riding event on Saturday in a two ring circus. Particularly popular were piglets of baby, said Carol Carrier, 10, were a project of 4 H. The piglets were mixed with ducklings and goslings inside a small enclosure, where he also reclined Carrier, answering questions and get photographed.

Create Working Electronic Circuits
Snap Circuits comes with over 70 pieces to create 511 different electronic projects. The pieces, which include snap wires, slide switches, resistors, an FM radio module, and a 7-segment LED display, snap together easily on the included plastic grid--no soldering required. Each piece is numbered and color-coded to make identifying them easy. These components combine to create working circuit boards just like the ones found inside televisions, radios, and other electronic devices.

Simple, Fun Projects Let Kids Learn While They Play
With its easy-to-follow instructions, Snap Circuits gives your child a hands-on education in how electrical circuits run the everyday devices that they're familiar with. They'll also gain valuable lessons in building and in following instructions. The project manuals include large color illustrations and simple directions for each project.

The project list includes all of the projects from the 100-in-1 and 300-in-1 kits and 206 additional projects, including a music meter, an FM radio, and a digital voice recorder. With these projects, children will learn about electric switches, integrated circuits, digital circuits, fuses, and more.

Grow as You Go
Because the projects are arranged in order of complexity, kids can build on their skills as they progress through the manual. The lessons start out with a simple electric light and switch project that demonstrates how electricity is turned on and off with a switch. Further along, kids can put together a music alarm, different visual displays, an adjustable light control, and more.

Design Your Own Circuits and Upgrade Your Kit
Once children have mastered several of the techniques introduced in this kit, they can use the components to experiment and create their own customized circuits and electronic devices. The Snap Circuits PRO SC-500 can also be upgraded to the Snap Circuits Extreme (SC-750) or the Snap-Micro I Standard (SCM-400) with the purchase of a UC-80 or UC-100 upgrade kit, respectively. Kids will enjoy additional parts, manuals, and projects that'll take their kit--and their fun--to the next level.

Snap Circuits PRO SC-500 requires four AA batteries, which are not included.

What's in the Box
Plastic snap-grid, 76 electrical components, and 3 project manuals.

Woof! Woof!! - Uncle Matty's Guide to Dog Training [VHS]

Woof! Woof!! - Uncle Matty's Guide to Dog Training [VHS]Woof Woof: Uncle Matty's Guide to Dog Training offers a friendly and funny approach to raising a dog. Host Matthew Margolies speaks with humor, warmth, and authority when talking both to his pupil dogs and to his audience. He does scold some of his example pet owners, mostly for not being diligent enough about enforcing doggie boundaries and rules. Woof Woof presents several scenarios familiar to a dog owner, including selecting a dog at a breeder or the pet shelter, teaching sit-stay-heel, and generally having more control over Fido when out walking him. He stresses the aphorism that it is not the breed that is vicious or willful, but the treatment of the dog that determines behavior. Margolies's philosophy is that "love, praise, and affection" and a good leash will get one far in gently enforcing an owner's control. He demonstrates in some almost-too-good-to-be-true situations in which a playful and undisciplined puppy completely submits to sit-stay, even when his real owner calls to him from across the room in an attempt to distract him. Another demonstration has Margolies taming an aggressive pit bull by speaking gently to the dog while distracting him with a lesson in "heel-sit." The video includes discussion on behavior problems, not just solving them, but really getting to the root of them, and then proceeding from there. Despite the thorough puppy selection (ways to ascertain new puppy and dog personality), and basic training and leash-holding technique demonstrations, there is no "chapter" or demonstration on house-training methods when bringing that new pet home. This might have been more useful, especially considering the time the video devotes to selecting a new pet. Overall, the video presents basic training principles in a positive and "team" approach to working with a dog. Thankfully, Margolies is not above baby talk, either. It is nice to see an authority in dog training still cannot resist a cute pooch. --Gilia Angell

Raising Your Dog with the Monks of New Skete

Raising Your Dog with the Monks of New SketeMixing action, humor, sentiment, and even a few righteous moral convictions, The Wild Geese is good, rousing fun. Released theatrically in 1978 (oddly, this 2005 DVD release is referred to as the "30th Anniversary Edition"), director Andrew V. McLaglen's film depicts the adventures of a group of British mercenaries hired by a shady multinational corporation to free the benevolent leader of an African nation held captive by a ruthless dictator. Led by the caustic, no-nonsense Col. Allen Faulkner (Richard Burton), these soldiers of fortune are all stout fellows out to earn a big payday and restore a good man to his rightful place of power (the underlying message of universal racial brotherhood is effective, if somewhat simplistic), and they do their job swiftly and efficiently... at least until they're double-crossed by their venal, perfidious employers, at which point the film becomes a tale of survival and revenge. The cast, which also includes Richard Harris, Roger Moore, and a host of other fine veteran actors, is first-rate, the story-telling efficient, the dialogue entertaining (with occasional bursts of profanity), and the action reasonably exciting and not overly graphic. And even if the pace is somewhat leisurely by new millennium standards (we're nearly an hour into it before the actual mission starts), The Wild Geese is a very enjoyable ride. Bonus features include a profile of producer Euan Lloyd and commentary by Lloyd, Moore, and journalist Jonathan Sothcott. --Sam Graham

    Racing Stripes (Widescreen Edition)

Racing Stripes (Widescreen Edition)When you start watching Racing Stripes, you may not be prepared for how unbelievably cute a young zebra is. A travelling circus accidently abandons an adorably helpless zebra in the middle of Kentucky on a stormy night. Fortunately, the wee zebra is found by Nolan Walsh (Bruce Greenwood, The Sweet Hereafter), a brilliant horse trainer who's given up his calling after a riding accident that killed his wife. His daughter Channing (Hayden Panettiere, Raising Helen) names the zebra Stripes and, before you know it, Stripes has grown to young adulthood and is aching to race at a nearby track. Thus begins a fairly formulaic triumph-over-adversity tale combined with talking animals--but Racing Stripes understands its formula and executes it without any pretensions. It doesn't hit the bullseye struck by Babe (an earlier triumph-over-adversity tale combined with talking animals), and there are bad puns and gags aplenty, but Greenwood's solid presence gives the movie an unexpected emotional fullness. Featuring a bizarre assortment of voices for the animals, including Whoopi Goldberg, Dustin Hoffman, Frankie Muniz, Mandy Moore, Joe Pantoliano (as a Mafioso pelican), Steve Harvey, David Spade, and Snoop Dogg. --Bret Fetzer
