TEJAS RESCUED

PET ADOPTIONS:

Indigo is a 3-4-year-old blue chow who's spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and housetrained. Indigo has endured a lot. She was trapped in a drainage pool for days and couldn't get out because her eyes were infected and crusted shut.

San Antonio Animal Care Services rescued Indigo, who was diagnosed with entropion, which caused her eyelids to fold inward. This irritates her corneas and may ultimately cause blindness. Recent surgery was done to fix her eyelids. Indigo has no vision impairment and her eyes should totally heal soon.

Indigo was so covered with ticks that she lost blood to the point of anemia and weakness. She also had pyometra, a severe womb infection. She had to be spayed immediately in order to save her life. Additionally, blood tests showed Indigo had heartworms. TRPA claimed Indigo, took her to a foster home for care and she is recovering nicely.

After receiving several months of veterinary care, Indigo is now a beautiful, healthy dog. In spite of her ordeal, Indigo remains sweet-natured and friendly. She'd prefer to be inside with you, gets along with other dogs and is well-behaved. Donations are needed for her veterinarian care.

Contact TRPA: 416-3947, P.O. Box 790372, San Antonio, TX 78279 or www.tejasrescues.org. Donations are always needed for animal vet care as are volunteers and temporary foster parents. All medical and food supplies are provided.
