Cat Supplies | To Find A New Role

After spending nine years in the business of restaurant and bar, Seymour resident Mickie Robertson decided he needed a change.

That is not the only reason, however, he decided to open a pet shop in Seymour.

"I have two dogs and a cat, and do not always find what I wanted without having to drive a long distance to get," said Robertson.

So after months of preparation and careful study, Robertson decided to open Pet Plaza at 416 E. San Segundo a couple of months.

"I just saw the need for this," said Robertson.

Robertson said he believes the store is stocked with a wide variety of pet food, help local people save time and money you spend now travel to stores in other cities.

She carries supplies for dogs and cats as well as food and other items for birds and small animals like gerbils.

"I have a bird, so it's been a learning experience for me," said Robertson.

He said he has been busy building its stock of pet food and supplies and is taking suggestions from customers.

"If they ask, I can for them," said Robertson.

Robertson said he believes Seymour still has enough of the small city of people appreciate qualities such as being able to buy locally and receive the personal touch.

"I do not think you can get a chain of stores," she said.

She said he has no intention of competing with the stores that sell dogs, cats, birds and other animals, and she did not want to compete with the hair either.

Over time it can, however, bring a trainer once a week to offer local residents a little help with training their dogs.

"We intend to teach citizenship and dog agility," said Robertson.

She said that education is the key to having a pet, and those who take the time to learn everything you can about pet ownership is more pleasant and satisfying.

Robertson said he has launched a program that allows people who adopt animals from local rescue shelters and rescue as Red Sky Jackson County Humane Society a discount on the purchase of a starter kit for your new animal.

"Then donate $ 5 back to the shelter," said Robertson.

The store is open 11 am-7 pm Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays.
