Dog Agility Equipment | New Dog Park Will Be Ready In Early July

The first data from 2010 the process of city parks master plan had set a cost of between $ 75,000 and $ 125,000, but the City Council and administration stripped of that plan, and now the project estimate of $ 46,000.

The dog park is more or less a square of grass 50 yards, just north of the municipal services building. City Manager Norbert Klopsch said he will have two fenced areas for large dogs and small, a new disabled access ramp to the hill (as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act), and a water fountain for dogs. No banks or dog.

Linda Hart of Patterson Road, who gathered over 200 signatures for the dog park, said the lack of equipment for dog agility dog ??parks have some big deal.

"All you really need is a safe area nearby where we can exercise our dogs," said Hart.

Klopsch sent letters to neighbors of the park last week and said he was not surprised to hear some complaints about noise, security or other issues.

"We are realistic and recognize that there may be some people here who do not like change," said Klopsch. "But frankly, the City Council and staff are convinced that when you look at the community as a whole, this is a very positive and smart investment - add another unique feature of some, a very modest way, our community special. "

In the master planning process, 75 percent of respondents called Creager field a good dog park site.

Park users are expected to clean their dogs, but Klopsch said city crews refuse probably revise the park most weekdays.
