PCHS Memorial 5K

The third annual PCHS Memorial 5K is today. This is an event to celebrate the lives of anyone throughout the community that is no longer with us and everyone is encouraged to participate. The registration begins at 8 a.m. The race will start at 9 a.m. on Dozier Field and go through the neighboring Park Meadows area. Day of registration is $30 and pre-registration is $25. All race proceeds go to PCHS National Honor Society for its ongoing humanitarian projects. To pre-register, visit pchsmemorial.com .

UOP Hill Climb

The fifth-annual Utah Olympic Park Hill Climb and is scheduled for today. The events are a 5K course challenge which features a 1,000-foot vertical climb and a 2.5K course challenge featuring a 400-foot vertical climb. Participants can either bike, run, walk or climb. Pre-Registration fees for adults are $25 and $20 for kids 17 and under. Entry fee includes a ride down the Xtreme Zipline or Quicksilver Alpine Slide. The proceeds benefit the Park City Nordic Ski Club and participants will be able to challenge Olympic gold medalist Billy Demong. Check-in and registration time Saturday is at 7 a.m., in the museum. The run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. and the bike race begins at 9 a.m.

Rail Trail Celebration

Tuesday Trail Runs

Mountain Trails Foundation has announced the start of the Tuesday Trail Runs series June 7 to August 30. The runs take place around Park City and are free of charge. Runners meet every Tuesday at a scheduled trailhead at 6 p.m. Participants lead the runs, and may run with friends and a group or pick up the pace for training. Spartan Race for kids

The Spartan Race is the world leader in obstacle racing and will be in Utah for the first time at Soldier Hollow, Midway on July 9. This race is designed to test participants' resilience, strength, stamina, and ability to laugh in the face of adversity; 15 obstacles over an 8-mile course. Cost is $10 for the kids' course, ages 5 to 13, which has kids scale down obstacles on its half-mile course. All kids-course proceeds go toward Rod Dixon's KiDSMARATHON Foundation, a nonprofit organization educating youth about exercise and nutrition. Park City Recreation Skate Comp Series

Don't miss out on the action in Utah's premier skate competition series. Park City Recreation will be hosting competitions on Saturdays: June 25, July 30, and August 20 at the Park City Skate Park. Kids triathalon camps

Tri-kids 123 triathlon camps are returning. The camps are designed to introduce young athletes, ages 5 to 12 years old, to multi-sport training in a positive and fun environment. All athletes will receive instruction in swimming, cycling, running, nutrition and how to transition between events. Camps run from June 27 to July 1, July 5-8 and August 8-12. Intermountain Masters Golf Classic Tournament

Do you enjoy playing golf? Intermountain Masters is hosting its first golf tournament at Park City Golf Course June 18 at 9 a.m. The day begins with Bloody Marys, and ends with a beautiful luncheon with prizes, giveaways and the awarding of a beautiful trophy to the top team. Cost is $95 with a four-person scramble format and benefits a great cause, the "Ski with a Legend" masters' scholarship fund. EXPERIENCE EFFORTLESS HIKING

The Silver Mountain Sport Club is offering a "Hiker's experiencing the ease Clinic" today, from 3 to 5:30 p.m., at the Kimball Junction Location. This special hiker's clinic will help hikers to learn how to use the strength in the pelvis and spine in order to thrust up the hill. Cardio box class

Former Olympic boxer Shane Heaps is teaching "Cardio Box" at Silver Mountain Sports Club. The innovative variations of the sparring jabs and power punches blend defense and fitness with aerobic benefits. Participants will learn the proper execution of the punch combinations in a workout that can help folks become stronger and more confident. Get fighting fit and have fun doing it. Park City Recreation is rounding up teams for this summer's 3V3 basketball series. Choose one night or join in all three for a night out on the court. Adult dirt jump clinics

Dirt jump clinics aren't just for kids. Register for Park City Recreation's Adult Dirt Jump Clinics where participants can learn and feel comfortable at the dirt jump park; the instructors will help jumpers advance quickly in the sport of progressive mountain biking. Silver Mountain swim lessons

Registration is now under way for swim lessons and the pre-comp swim team at Silver Mountain Sports Club Spa at Prospector Square. Swim lessons and pre-comp swim team participation is open to the public and both group and private lessons are offered. Lesson begin on June 13 and run through August 4. Spartan race training

The Sweat Shop and Parallel Yoga are the official Wasatch Back training facility for the Spartan Race to be held Saturday, July 9, at Soldier Hollow. Training events are every Saturday at City Park at 10 a.m.

Sailboat racing seminar

The Park City Sailing Association is conducting a three-session sailboat racing seminar geared toward beginner and intermediate racers. The on-the-water session will be held on the Jordanelle Reservoir on June 4. Everything from boat preparation, starts, mark roundings, finishing and rules will be covered. Dog obedience class

Do you have a new puppy? Or a dog you would love to learn a few new tricks? Park City Recreation begins another session of Dog Obedience classes Tuesday, June 7. Three levels of training are offered to fit the need of your dog with our puppy, basic, and intermediate classes. Classes are taught by local certified dog trainer, Heather Hampsten and will be held at the Park City Ice Arena. Registration is open now until classes are filled. Summer tennis camps

Park City Recreation is excited to announce that its summer tennis camps are now open for registration. They will be hosting camps taught by USPTA certified professionals all summer long for children ages 7 through 12. Tennis camp options include two days, three days, or five days a week. Piranhas rec swim team

Wondering where the kids are going to take summer pre-comp swim team? Park City Racquet Club has the answer. The Piranhas swim team will spend the summer practicing at Ecker Hill Aquatic Center Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to noon beginning June 13. Swim lessons with Park City rec

The Racquet Club may be out of a pool this summer but that doesn't mean people have to go without swimming lessons. Join Saturdays at Ecker Hill Aquatic Center. They will be offering two sessions for all ages. The first session's deadline is June 15 sign up at parkcityrecreation.org or call (435) 615-5401.

Learn to play hockey

The Park City Ice Arena is having adult hockey classes this month. Instruction focuses on the basic skills of power skating, stick handling, passing, shooting and positioning. Fee includes: Chalk talk before ice session, instruction, skate rental, 1.25 hour lesson,

and a punch card for two additional Stick and Puck practice sessions. Students must be stable (stand without help) and able (skate forward and stop) to register for this class. Required equipment includes: skates, helmets, stick, gloves, shin pads, elbow pads and protective cup. Limited sets of equipment may be available for rent at the ice arena. In addition, it is highly recommended that participants also wear a mouth guard, shoulder pads and hockey pants. Classes are June 6 and 13. Class time is 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Ice time is 7:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. (15 minute chalk talk prior to ice time). Class registration fee is $70. For more information call (435) 615-5702.
